Nason Buchanan
Community Relations Strategist
Raised in the Glen Park community in Gary, Indiana, Nason has always thrived in community service and mentorship programs.
He is committed to empowering youth and families and is a dedicated and influential man of service in Southern California. His work in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office through Gang Reduction and Youth Development as well as Reentry has fostered strong and important relationships with community members, activists, groups, and decision makers.
He strives to inspire and strengthen communities by working with and developing youth, mentoring young men, and promoting proactive peacekeeping.
As a Community Relations Strategist, Nason understands the varying dynamics, needs, and wants of the community. He knows the proper leaders, change agents, and important stakeholders to get things accomplished. An advocate, mentor, and capacity builder, he has developed a plethora of trusting relationships and partnerships that allow him to moderate difficult or uncomfortable conversations among different groups. Nason has great rapport with influential leaders, change agents, and important stakeholders to accomplish many endeavors. These relationships have helped foster economic development within communities and empower them to strengthen their capacity and self-sustainability.
Nason is the founder of DMTL nonprofit organization, whose initials stand for his beloved family members that he lost to a violent crime. He is also on the Board of Directors for Brother II Brother mentoring organization and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.
